Statement on Belarus

to the Permanent Council, Vienna

We listened with interest to the Belarus Ambassador’s presentation and will study it carefully.

We wish to remind the Council that former Prime Minister Mikhail Chigir remains imprisoned illegally by the Government of Belarus. It has been 21 weeks since the United States first raised this cause before the Permanent Council.
