On the Ukraine Reform Conference
As delivered by Acting Political and Economic Counselor Lane Darnell Bahl
to the Permanent Council, Vienna
July 16, 2021
The United States welcomes recent progress in advancing key reforms in Ukraine and we applaud the work of all Ukrainians who are pushing for further progress. As Secretary Blinken said in his remarks at the recent Ukraine Reform Conference, “Arguably no issue is more important to Ukraine’s future than a secure, thriving democracy than reducing corruption.” Thank you to Lithuania for hosting this year’s conference, and to Switzerland for its readiness to hold the conference next year. We welcome the opportunity to continue working with you, our Ukrainian partners, and all OSCE participating States to support reforms that will enable Ukraine to fulfill its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Thank you, Madam Chair.
